Use riddles displayed on your phone to explore a local area of the city.

Seek It.

The answers to the riddles are often found on historical markers, signs, and statues. But Quests also get you noticing the city in new ways, so answers can be found in all sorts of places. Keep your eyes peeled!

Solve It.

Carefully read each riddle, and break it down into the individual clues. Click here to see how to solve our example riddle.

Request up to three hints for each riddle if you need some help.

Answer It.

Once solved, the right answer will unlock a secret about the area. You can then carry on with your Quest or do the optional Side Quest for that location.

Brooklyn Heights & DUMBO

Meander your way through leaf lined streets, exploring some of Brooklyn’s oldest homes. See breath-taking views of the Manhattan skyline as you wander along the river’s edge.

Financial District & South Street Seaport

Participants: 2- 4 people

Availability: 7 days a week

You can grab a coffee at La Parisienne or a drink next door at The Malt House.

Explore the city where it first began. Wander through some of the oldest streets in New York and get a chance to take in the rich history that so many people walk past without even noticing.

Greenwich Village

Stroll down cobbled streets, as you peek into some of the Village’s most quaint gardens and marvel at its beautiful brownstones.

Participants: 2- 4 people

Battery Park City Mini Quest (For Kids!)

Mini Quests are scavenger hunts for families. They’re perfect for kids aged 7-11 years old (and for their younger siblings to join in!) You’ll use shapes, numbers and puzzles to explore the beautiful waterfront of Battery Park City.

Participants: 2- 6 people

Kid Age: 7-11yo (younger siblings can join in too!)

Availability: 7 days a week

Start Time: Mon - Thu: 8am - 2:30pm
Fri: 8am - 3:30pm
Sat - Sun: 8am - 4:30pm

(Mini Quests must always be completed in daylight, to make it easier to spot the clues. You can choose to begin later than the suggested times, but the final coffee shop might be closed by the time you reach it.)

Mini Quests are scavenger hunts for families. They’re perfect for kids aged 7-11 years old (and for their younger siblings to join in!) You’ll use shapes, numbers and puzzles to discover the maritime history of the Seaport.

Kid Age: 7-11yo (younger siblings can join in too!)

Mini Quests are scavenger hunts for families. They’re perfect for kids aged 7-11 years old (and for their younger siblings to join in!) You’ll use shapes, numbers and puzzles to discover the history of the unique buildings in Tribeca.

 FAQs

  • Side Quests are designed to be more vague and challenging riddles. They will still lead you to their answer, but will require more searching and closer observation than the main Quest. You can even choose to split off from your team member(s) to cover more ground (and increase the competition levels!)

    Note - the answer to each Side Quest is no further than the next block along from where you begin it.

  • During each riddle you will be offered extra guidance three times, with increasing levels of detail.

    Don’t worry, we want you to solve it!

  • Yes, the Quest will take place using cell phones and the internet. Please ensure your battery is charged.

  • Of course! Quests require no local knowledge.
